When you get a message on the automated system that says, "Your personnel records contains an expiration date that is keeping you from being assigned to any jobs" what does that mean? It means that your teaching certificate or permit it going to expire soon. What you need to do is to stop by our Human Resources Office with your updated teaching certificate. We will get a copy made for your file and get your records updated in the automated system. What do I do if I have an address or phone number change? If your address and/or phone number changes, please call or stop by Human Resources to update this information. In addition, if your phone number changes permanently, please call me at 662-1690 so I can update your information in the automated system. What do I need to do if my name changes? If you have a name change, you need to stop by Human Resources and bring us your original Social Security Card reflecting your new name. We will make a copy of your Social Security Card and update your records. In addition, after you submit your Social Security Card to us, you will need to call the automated system at 662.1691 to re-register to update your name, by following the directions on page 4 of your Substitute Quick Reference Card. When an employee wants to request me to substitute for them, what number do I give them to request me when they ask for my identification number? Your identification number is the last seven or eight digits of your telephone number. If there is someone else in your household that also substitutes for Central Kitsap School District, an extra digit has been added at the end of your phone number to distinguish you from the other person in your household. If you fall under the category and are uncertain what your identification number is, please call the Substitute Office at 662-1690 for assistance. As an emergency guest teacher, can I be requested for assignments? Emergency guest teachers can't be requested for assignments. State law mandates that we utilize all of our guest teachers with regular certificates before utilizing emergency guest teachers. What do I need to do if I am no longer available to substitute? Please be sure and call the Substitute Office at 661-1690 to notify us that you are no longer available to substitute. If you are moving out of the area, please be sure to notify us of your new address so we make sure your W2 gets mailed to the correct address. In addition, you will need to turn in your photo identification badge to Human Resources. Why does the automated system continue to call me when I'm turning down work because I am not able to work? The automated system will call you if you have not made yourself unavailable in the automated system. Even though you are declining work and put your reason for absence that you are sick, etc.., the automated system does not recognize you are unavailable for work. It just knows that you are turning down that particular assignment. To make yourself unavailable, please call the automated system at 662-1691 and follow the steps on page 3 of your Substitute Quick Reference card under the heading, "Review or Modify Unavailability" press 7 or "review or Modify your Daily Availability, press 8. What do I do if the automated system calls an offers me an assignment and in the special instructions it is requesting a different substitute? If you get a call like that, go ahead and accept the assignment. Staff are not to use the special instructions to request the substitute they want. In addition, you can call the Substitute Office at 662-1690 and leave a message regarding the assignment you accepted. What do I do if I receive a call in the morning from the automated system regarding an assignment and I can't make it by the start time? If you receive a call from the automated system and you are unable to arrive by the start time because it is a late call, go ahead and accept the assignment and then call the Substitute Office at 662-1690 and let me know what time you will be able to arrive, within a reasonable amount of time. In turn, I call the school office to let them know your approximate arrival time so the school knows when to expect your arrival. How do I add or delete locations or subjects/positions that I am willing to substitute in the automated system? When you know you want to make changes in the automated system, please call the Substitute Office at 662-1690. Please have ready the information you want added or deleted.
