About Me
- Have your child create a poster that tells about him/her using math information such as, "I am eight years old, and I am four feet tall." Have him/her use numbers, pictures, or math words on the poster. Items he/she could include are: birth date, favorite number, favorite time of day, weight, etc.
Pictures, Words, and/or Numbers
- Ask your child to solve a math problem and explain how he/she found the solution using pictures, words, and/or numbers.
Graphs in the Media
- Point out graphs, charts, and diagrams in the newspaper. Notice how information is organized and represented. Ask your child to share information he/she learned about the topic from the visual.
