Annual Measureable Achievement Objectives

Title I and Title III of the “No Child Left Behind” (NCLB) Act, include English Language Learners (ELL) in the state accountability system and require states to set performance targets referred to as Annual Measurable Achievement Objectives (AMAOs) for English language proficiency and “exit” from program rates of ELL students.

AMAO 1: Annual increases in the number of percentages of children making progress in learning English.

Students enrolled in Grades 1–12 in TBIP (Transitional Bilingual Instructional Program, “ESL”) for two successive years Target: 70% of students with two data points making gains

CKSD is at 77%, we met this goal.

AMAO-2: Annual increases in the number of percentages of children attaining English proficiency. (Students in program for 3 consecutive years that exited).

Target: 45% of the number of students scheduled to exit during the 2007-08 school year

CKSD is at 42%, we just missed this goal.
