A Message from the Superintendent

It's hard to believe that Spring is around the corner.  We have had an incredibly busy winter with a lot of great learning and hard work.  Our focus on instruction and student achievement remains at the forefront of all we do and we’ve had tremendous student and staff accomplishments to celebrate!

In addition to the normal challenges of administering a school district, we continue our strategic planning effort called Task Force Resource (TFR).  The success of TFR relies on the work of its committees and sub-committees.  These include Facilities Infrastructure Review, School Configuration, Budget Development Team, Music, Custodial, Pool, Career & Technical Education, Technology, Classified Staffing, and Co-Curricular.  Committees meet regularly to discuss issues and possibilities relating to their area of study that are then passed to the TFR Steering Committee for review, and ultimately to the School Board of Directors.  We continually update the CKSD website so that you can stay up-to-date on TFR information, press releases, presentations, and announcements.  I encourage you to check the website often: www.cksd.wednet.edu.

As Spring approaches we still need to be prepared for the necessary contingencies that accompany weather.  The safety of our students, staff, and families is uppermost in our minds when we look at conditions for traveling to and from school.  We will continue to make the best decisions possible, and we will make every effort to communicate those decisions quickly and clearly.  When schools are delayed or cancelled due to severe weather, notification will be posted on the CKSD website http://www.cksd.wednet.edu/ no later than 6:00 a.m.  To ensure you are viewing the most recent message, please click your browser's refresh button.  We also use www.schoolreport.org to post information. You can visit and subscribe for school closure or delay information at http://www.schoolreport.org/schoolDetail.php?schoolId=12 .  Please be aware that, in the event of rapidly changing weather conditions the information may change.  We ask that you watch the conditions to determine if a second look at information is advisable.

Last but most certainly not least, I take this opportunity to thank our students, staff, families and community for the tremendous support of Central Kitsap School District.

Sincerely,

Greg Lynch
