CKSD SUMMER ACADEMY 2009

July 13-August 7, 2009 (Monday-Friday)

The Summer Academy Program is designed for students in grades K-12 during the 2008-09 school year. Course offerings are designed for the purpose of providing participants the opportunity to broaden their horizons through exploration, skill maintenance and enhancement, and review. We provide a positive learning opportunity for all students.

SUMMER HOURS OF OPERATION

Jenne-Wright Administration Center

The CKSD Administration Center (9210 Silverdale Way) is open to the public all year. Summer hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. from June 29 to July 24. The building will be closed July 2 and July 3 in observance of Independence Day.

 

 

2009-10 BUDGET DEVELOPMENT

As a result of the state budget deficit, CKSD is facing budget reductions of approximately $5.2 million. To address this funding shortfall, the District developed a prioritized list of budget reductions for the 2009-10 budget. Please click here to view the presentation.

 

The preliminary 2009-10 CKSD budget was presented to the Board on June 17. Please click here to view the presentation. The CKSD budget hearing and adoption is scheduled for the School Board Meeting on August 12.

SECONDARY BOUNDARY ADJUSTMENTS

As a result of declining enrollment and unbalanced student distribution, some CKSD schools are below optimal enrollment. To resolve this issue, the District will implement secondary boundary changes for the 2009-10 school year.

Families affected by these changes were notified in writing at the end of January. Students who are affected but who would prefer to continue at their current schools may apply for an intra-district transfer. Click here for student transfer information
